Counseling
Counseling Services
We offer compassionate mental health counseling services with therapists who deeply understand the impact of intimate partner violence (IPV). Our dedicated team is here to support you on your journey to healing and recovery. Our therapists work with children and families as well as individual adults of all genders who have experienced IPV.
Common Questions
How does counseling differ from advocacy?
Counseling provides emotional and psychological support to help you understand and cope with your experiences, while advocacy focuses on providing resources and support for navigating legal, safety, and other challenges.
To connect with an advocate 24/7, please reach out to our DV Hotline at 253-383-2593 or find out more information here https://www.ywcapiercecounty.org/community-advocacy
If you have specific needs or questions about our programming for children and youth, contact our Children’s Program Manager at 253-272-4181 x 285.
How much does it cost for counseling?
Counseling like all our services are free of charge and are not dependent on your income or insurance.
What should I expect when I reach out?
When you reach out, you can expect a timely response from our Child and Family Therapist. We'll listen to your needs, let you know about our services here and in the community, and help you determine if our support here matches your needs.
What if you don’t have availability or the services I need?
If we don't have availability or the specific services you need, we'll assist you in finding alternative resources and referrals to ensure you receive the support you need.
Are there any counseling services you don’t provide?
Our focus is on providing support for individuals and families affected by intimate partner violence. We do not offer evaluations or medication management, but we can provide referrals to appropriate professionals and resources.
Do you offer groups?
You can find more information about our educational Insights Virtual Support Group here: https://www.ywcapiercecounty.org/support-groups
We also offer in-person art therapy groups for adults. Through art we aim to help facilitate a safe, therapeutic space for adults who have experienced intimate partner violence to explore identity, move towards healing and healthy relationships, and build lifelong emotional skills. The group will be facilitated by members of our counseling program.
For more information on the next art therapy group and to get on our waitlist for future groups, please see our Interest form.
