Legal Services

PLEASE NOTE:

The YWCA Legal Services Program is in the process of filling vacant positions so that we have adequate capacity to support survivors of intimate partner violence in their family law or domestic violence protection order cases. At this time, if you wish to be placed on the waitlist, please complete this form: For assistance, please fill out this form.

If you prefer to call our legal line, please call 253-365-6352. Please leave a detailed message clearly stating your name, a safe number to contact you at, and what type of legal support you are seeking. Please be aware that our program only addresses cases in the Pierce County court jurisdiction. A legal advocate will return your call as soon as possible, within 5 business days.

Please do not call and also complete a legal services interest form, as this duplicates the program’s effort to respond to all inquiries. We are taking on new cases from our waitlist as soon as and Advocate becomes available.

You can also call our 24/7 DV Hotline at 253-383-2593 to get help with safety planning or other community resources from a trained Advocate. Additional resources for legal aid are listed below.

We thank you for your patience.

Comprehensive Legal Support

Our program is focused on helping survivors of intimate partner violence understand and navigate the civil legal system, including domestic violence protection orders and family law cases that are in Pierce County Superior Court. We do not provide legal services in criminal cases or other areas of civil law. We are not able to assist with cases outside the jurisdiction of Pierce County Superior Court. We also help with applications for the Washington State Address Confidentiality Program.

Our program can help you:

· Determine your next legal step

· Provide documents relevant to your legal action

· Navigate the legal system

· Provide limited court support

· Gain knowledge and resources to represent yourself

· Access attorney consultation when appropriate and available
